I grew up watching my family navigate the contradiction between rich Indian food traditions and modern health advice that told us everything we loved was "bad." It never sat right with me.
After completing my nutrition certification and training in Ayurvedic medicine, I realised the answer wasn't to abandon Indian food — it was to understand it better. Dal, ghee, haldi, ragi, amla — our traditional ingredients are nutritional powerhouses. The problem was the way we'd started eating them: ultra-processed, deep-fried, sugar-laden versions.
Over 10 years and 1,000+ clients later, Healthilicious Plate is built on that same principle: you don't need to eat like a Westerner to be healthy. You need to eat like a smarter Indian.
